About our trainings

We regularly host trainings in Philadelphia to share some of the tools and resources available to basically anyone who wants to find out more information. We focus on freely accessible information, including how to submit a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, where to find information about campaign financing and how to use the tools found in LittleSis.org and other sites.

Follow us on social media or join our mailing list to stay on top of what we're offering. If you want to submit a training, please fill out our contact form. We will post and update training materials below for anyone unable to attend in person, though we do believe that meeting and organizing in person is vital to building a strong social justice movement.

Municipal Finance Workshop Initially offered in March 2018. Learn how to use the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board's EMMA tool to help researchers better understand municipal finance mechanisms.

Who Rules Philly? Initially offered Dec. 2018. Analyze the boards of trustees of important corporations, universities, civic institutions, and corporate lobbying groups in Philadelphia to better understand relationships between powerful people and organizations in the city.

Philly Real Estate Development 101 Initially offered July 2018. Real estate developers wield enormous power in our city. They use their business, political, and personal networks to shape local policy, access public subsidies, and forward an agenda that prioritizes their profits at the expense of affordable housing, well-paying jobs, and real investment in working class and low-income communities.
